I found out a few days before xmas but had to sit on the news until I signed the contract, which just happened last week. I am now officially a member of the faculty at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, as a Lecturer in Publishing (though I'll still teach creative writing, too, when needed)!
This means that I am now ALL THE BUSY! It also means that I can apply for a new visa and my uni will sponsor me, so no deportation later this year :)
The past two weeks have seen me write and field dozens and dozens of emails (part of my job is getting publishing industry professionals to come give seminars to my Publishing MA students), attend a boatload of meetings, keep track of all new paperwork, and schedule in too many more things to remember. I now have TWO dayplanners.
Work for me--this term--is W/Th/F on campus, Mondays off (because I am a .8 rather than a 1FTE for now) and Tuesdays as my 'Research Day'. Today, however, I did no research because, well, E-MAILS. So next week, once I am caught up on all of the new stuff, the plan is to turn off the work email and, er, research!
Up first: the garden publishing project. Also, a possible conference presentation about cottage gardens as historical fictions.
I am now being paid to be a nerd, and to pass on the nerdiness to the next generation. It's *fab*!
Here, have a flower photo. Taken at Biddulph Grange, June 2012.
