ANYWAY
I have been building Underhill Academy for the past several months, and it is now open with new courses added and much more to come. But that all takes time, which is, weirdly, one thing I have both a lot of and somehow none of. Nevertheless, I am announcing here that I am open for editing/proofreading/writer support services! Details are up on the Underhill Academy site as well as on this one. I've been an editor (of various types) on and off for YEARS and it's time to put the 'Open' sign back up on the door. Needless to say, science fiction, fantasy, and horror are my specialities, but I have experience working with corporate and private clients on non-fiction, too, and can work with graduate-level students and academics.
In other news:
- This coming weekend I will be one of the authors at the Bury St Edmunds Foreword Festival, the first fringe literature festival in the UK. I'll have a table with books and be running an in-person workshop on writing historical fantasy. This is a workshop I have run many times both online and in person, and this might be its final in-person run (so stay tuned for it happening online via Underhill soon!).
- A week from today I am giving a talk at a local WI (that's Women's Institute for you non-Brits) meeting about my writing journey, etc.
- After that I am booked to be part of this fabulous program run here in East Anglia called SAW, which combines science, art, and writing to teach school kids about things like microbes. So I'll be hanging out with a bunch of 10- and 11-year-old students leading them in writing poetry after they go through a variety of tasks related to microbes and other teeny tiny creatures.
- And at the end of the month, I will be interviewing three horror writers at the Cambridge Waterstone's as part of a pre-Halloween event! More about that soon....
After that? Not sure. Likely creating and recording more courses for Underhill, working on the newest Spec Fic for Newbies volume, and working on finishing a novel and novella!
