Hi! I'm Tiffani Angus (PhD), the multi-awards-shortlisted novelist of Threading the Labyrinth and non-fiction author (with co-author Val Nolan) of Spec Fic for Newbies: A Beginner’s Guide to Writing Subgenres of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Vol. 1 (2023) and Vol. 2 (2024), both of which also made the Locus Recommended Reading List, and a BFS-award finalist for short fiction. I'm currently a freelance editor and proofreader for private clients and SFF publishing houses, I run the typesetting/formatting business Book Polishers (find out more under Editing & Typesetting), lead various writing workshops in person and online, and am at work on new fiction while finishing Volume 3 of the Spec Fic for Newbies series (due out 2026).
I'm a graduate of the Clarion Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers' Workshop (2009) and of Viable Paradise (2008), and I have attended the Milford SF Writer's Conference regularly in North Wales since 2011. I'm also very active in the UK SFF community, write a semi-regular column for the BFS, and regularly participate on panels at SFF conventions (see the list under Cons & Appearances).
In previous lives, I have been a technical writer; a newspaper copyeditor; a corporate trainer; an in-house editor and writer for an educational materials developer (basically creating textbooks); a Senior Lecturer in Publishing and Creative Writing, the Course Leader for the MA Creative Writing, and the co-Course Leader for the MA Publishing at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge, UK; and the General Director of the Anglia Centre for Science Fiction & Fantasy.
