I have taken to walking home from the gym or the station by going through the Abbey Gardens (look up Bury St Edmunds and you'll see what I'm talking about). A bit of green, and staying away from road noise, is good for the soul.
On that note, here is some cool stuff:
The trailer for the movie A Little Chaos, about the building of the gardens at Versailles, starring Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman. Um, TAKE MY MONEY! I can't wait to see this in all its fluffy, flowery, costumey splendor!
I learned today about Margery Fish and her first gardening book, We Made a Garden, in which she worked to undo all of the fussy and over-organized *lawn* that her late husband built. Once I turn in the PhD, I shall find this book and wallow in it a bit.
My friend Ferrett Steinmetz's debut novel Flex is a hell of a lot of fun and is getting great reviews at Amazon and Goodreads.
Outlander is *finally* coming to tv here in the UK! I first read the first book over half my lifetime ago. This makes me stupidly happy.
And tomorrow I teach my final classes before the Easter break. Two weeks *off* (for the most part. I will still be slogging away at the PhD)!
